Session format/audience:

This powerpoint-based workshop is intended for investigators interested in successfully competing for NIH research grants. The workshop is appropriate for faculty and trainees with little or no experience in writing NIH grant applications but should also be beneficial to more experienced investigators.

This workshop will focus upon writing succinct and compelling Specific Aims, and strategies to ensure that your application adequately addresses the relatively new Rigor and Reproducibility expectations. The material covered will be applicable to both R01 and R15 grants.

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • Learn to write Aims that actively attract reviewer attention, emphasize the overall impact, and provide SMART goals and objectives; and
  • Learn the NIH requirements and peer review criteria for the assessment of Rigor and Reproducibility, and become familiar with diverse resources to help meet the new proposal requirements.
